Bill Maher is an Idiot!

Yes, I know it is a strongly worded title and I know one shouldn’t resort to name calling but frankly sometimes you have to call things as they are! Bill’s comments about Gov. Palin’s youngest child were rude, disrespectful, mean-spirited, irresponsible and down right stupid. Bill on his show called Gov. Palin some very disrespectful names in his quest to get people to laugh. I found them rude and not funny but that doesn’t bother me because I understand it is just comedy and he is trying to appeal to a certain crowd. However, when he brought Gov. Palin’s 5 month old son into the joke and then said “her infant” that she had at the age of 43 with Down syndrome, looks a lot like John Edwards that was enough to fire up any decent person! How dare someone bring her innocent child into this campaign and then heartlessly make fun or light of the fact that her child is a special needs child! That was and is probably the most disgusting thing I have ever heard in a politically campaign. Bill Maher should apologize immediately for the cold hearted remarks that he made! I have included a link to the You Tube video here so you can hear for yourself the trash that he spews.
It doesn’t matter what side of politics you are on, wrong is still wrong. This kind of behavior has no place in the public forum. It benefits no one and only hurts and causes division. I like Gov. Palin politically. It someone else doesn’t that is fine. However we should always have a common decent respect for one another no matter how much we disagree.

Awww Hilley, you are way overreacting. Bill Maher is adult late night liberal comedy artist on HBO, he's very crude and spews quite a bit of bottom feeding garbage out, but, he didn't say anything that warrants burning him at the stake or calls for an apology regarding Palin's mentally handicapped child. He said it's touchy, the child has Down syndrome. That's a fact, anyways, and one that has been well covered by the media, which he is in his own way. His joke was essentially about the fact that Palin is too old to be having another child and he was actually picking fun at John Edwards by making the comment about the baby looking like him. The fact that the child has Down syndrome had nothing to do with the joke really. He just made a statement of fact and was acknowledging that everyone and their brother have been talking about the fact that Palin had a baby with Down syndrome. The joke would have applied to any baby whether they had Down syndrome or not, it was a joke about Edwards's adultery, actually a shot at a Democrat. . .

It's a sad thing about Republican campaigning, at least in recent years. They dish out harsh rhetoric, criticism and down right slander sometimes, ugly stuff, downing their opponents like hypocrites but at the slightest hint of an attack against them they SCREAM,"FOUL!", and point a finger. Let he without sin cast the first stone. I mean, geez, look at the fight the smears page on Obama's web site. Why doesn't McCain have a fight the smears page, because he doesn't need one. Not to say Obama's campaign has been absolutely blameless, but by comparison? Come on. It's really a shame. I mean the Republican National Convention was an Obama bashing party that had nothing to say about the issues. I don't think they know the word middle class, economy, fiscal responsibility, mutual accountability. I was surprised that John McCain actually laid out a FEW points on some issues in his speech at all. It was a first for the RNC.

Chew on that for a while and hit me back.

Later friend.
